30-Hour winner
Corey Nuehring
Marion, IA

Corey started riding dirt bikes when he was 9 years old and has owned bikes off and on for the past 19 years.

Corey has been participa-ting in competitive rallies for 3 years and the NSR was his 4th rally.

Corey, what caused you to enter your first rally?

"I wanted to complete a IBA Saddle Sore and thought a rally would be a good way to do both."

What drew you to the Not Superman Rally?

"I was disappointed in my
finish at the 2008 Cape Fear 1000, as I left a considerable number of
points on the scoring table. It was a good learning experience, but I didn't want to wait until the 2009 rally to redeem myself."

How did you hear about it?

"Jim Puckett announced the upcoming NSR rally at the Cape Fear 1000 awards banquet."

Now that you've participated, did it measure up to your expectations?

"Yes, a 30 hour rally is definitely more physically and mentally challenging than 24-26 hour rallies. Some participants, including myself, rode 350-500 miles just to get to their first bonus location."

What is the biggest challenge to you when participating in rallies?

"I think the biggest challenge in any rally is getting through the mental
pitfalls."

What one piece of advice would you give to new participants riding in their first rally ever?

"Plan a reasonable ride, research all your bonus locations, ride in your comfort zone and have fun."

What is the most difficult, intriguing, unbelievable, silly or outrageous bonus location you were sent to and where was it located?

"Monument Rocks aka "Hole in the Wall" - 20 miles south of Oakley, KS. It involved riding about 8 miles of gravel to and from to get to this location. In addition, it happened to be the hottest day of the summer, 109 degrees and sunny."

Will we see you next year for NSR III?

"I plan to be back to defend my title in the NSR III 48 hour rally."
